Capabilities and specifications
Policy is structured data, not code
Policy is built from rules, each with a condition and defined effects. Scripts, SQL, regular expressions, expression languages and plugins have no place in it.
| Effect | What it decides |
|---|---|
| Admission | Whether the transfer may be registered at all |
| Disposition | Deny or quarantine: after validation, after inspection or before delivery |
| Approval requirement | Who must approve, and how many |
| Destinations and limits | The allowed destinations, the maximum size, deadlines and the retry ceiling |
| Priority and notification | Queue order, which never weakens security, and which notifications go out |
| Preview and download | Closed by default; open only where a rule allows it and none forbids it |
- Default deny. Without an explicit allow the transfer is refused, and an explicit deny beats every allow.
- The policy is captured at registration. Publishing or rolling back a policy affects only later transfers.
- Rule order does not matter. Moving a rule can neither tighten nor loosen a decision.
Human approval
- Several independent approvers. Each requirement names who and how many. A partial approval grants nothing, and the first rejection ends the transfer.
- Every decision asks for the password again and is recorded with a snapshot of the exact evidence.
- A security override is bounded: an exact permission, an eligible verdict, a stated reason, the password again and an audit record that cannot change. Approval never releases confirmed malware.
Delivery and retention
Delivery is automatic, to the fixed path the administrator defined; the person at the destination does not have to accept it. A partial file is never visible: the file is published in one step, then reopened and hashed. A hash mismatch at the destination is shown as a security failure, never as success.
| Content or data | Kept by default |
|---|---|
| Delivered content | Deleted as soon as delivery is verified |
| Rejected or failed content | 7 days |
| Quarantined content | 30 days |
| Transfer records | One year |
Every period can be changed. An authorised hold prevents deletion until an audited release.
The console
| Group | Pages |
|---|---|
| Work | Dashboard, transfers, approvals, quarantine |
| File assurance | Validation, schemas, trusted signers, inspection engines |
| Directory and access | Agent hosts, destinations, users, groups, roles |
| Configuration | Policies, versions, export and import, licence, updates, security settings |
| Operations | Health, switching, jobs, audit, metrics |
Each person's menu shows only what they may use, and hiding a page is never what protects it: every action is checked again on the appliance.
